Thomas Howe Demonstration Forest

Signs

Thomas Howe Demonstration turn off sign. It has a tree motif made with 45 degree angles. The sign posts are also cut at 45 degree angles. A screenshot of the sign design. The old federal Thomas Howe sign. Just the name in san serif english and french and some icons.

The first sign that I designed is still one of my favorites. Thomas Howe Demonstration forest was opened by the federal government around 1994 and was taken over by a non profit, volunteer corporation in 1999. In 2009 the sign on the highway still said it was a federal demonstration forest. This is the new face. It was mainly as a favour to my dad who was an active volunteer since the corporation was formed.

It’s the standard federal sign hardware style circa 1994. By refacing it with a graphic that references the hardware we got a sign that looks a lot more put together than it is.

We’ve updated the exhibits over the years and almost every one is still there. There’s even a few new ones. Here's a pile of them for all you forest management freaks to enjoy.
